One of the worlds hottest footballers, Kylian Mbappé has filed a complaint for unauthorized use of his name.
Advertising campaigns for known cryptocurrency scams have been using the star’s name to lure in unwitting investors. The Adverts have appeared on social media platforms with false statements by Mbappé promoting a get rich fast scheme, promising users they would become millionaires within 2/3 months.
This isn’t the first time Mbappé has tangoed with crypto-related scams, in early 2019 the stars Twitter account was hacked and used to encourage his followers to invest in known crypto scams.
The complaint has received feedback from Anne-Sophoe Coulbois, head of the Central Office for Suppression of Financial Crime:
“These pages are used to impersonate future victims, save your contact details, then an alleged vendor calls them to explain the procedure for investing, but there is never a product that is invested in.”
Following your favourite star online isn’t uncommon, but please don’t take any investment advice from anyone without doing your own full research.
Till the next time,
